Funds for the Meals on Wheels program and the C.C. Cafe program will be cut if the sequestration continues. Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services in Contra Costa County, CA, serves over 5,000 seniors annually.

Over 750 home bound seniors rely on the Meals on Wheels delivery every day from Meals on Wheels and Senior Outreach Services. 200 other, primarily low-income seniors visit one of six C.C. Cafes for a nutritious, hot meal Monday - Friday. For many, the lunch meal is the only meal of the day.

The looming budget cuts may force cut backs in the number of people served and meals provided. Figures will be approximately 5%, with additional cuts anticipated in July. Unfortunately, the bulk of the cuts will affect services to low-income seniors, many who rely on the meals delivered for their only meal of the day.
