The world class organization EC Council Academy has initiated operations in Australia and New Zealand to train information security specialists in order to defeat hackers. Mr. Ravin Prasad, Director of the EC Council Academy in Australia & New Zealand states, “Australia is in urgent need of cyber security education.”

Australian businesses, banks, government bodies, and citizens use the Internet and mobile phones for daily business transactions. However, many ignore the cyber security risks to which they’re constantly exposed. Over 5.4 million Australians fell victim to cyber crime last year, which cost the Australian economy about $1.65 billion. Despite all this, the Federal Government spent $480 million on cyber security in 2011-12.

The EC Council Academy believes that for too long Australians felt it was the government’s responsibility to protect the nation against cyber criminals. The reality is that cyber security problems will never be addressed and resolved by the government or the cyber security community alone. They must be addressed at all levels to ensure citizens, businesses, and government organizations don’t fall victim to these digital criminals.

To combat cyber criminals, the EC Council Academy launched anti-hacker training operations in Australia and New Zealand. The EC’s Council’s philosophies are that education provides the power to beat cyber criminals and hackers, and that an equipment-based security mentality is not the answer. Today’s skilled cyber criminals utilize new methodologies and attack technologies.

According to the 2013 GTMT Security Study Report by Deloitte, risks from new technologies are inevitable and constant. At best, an organization can create a resilient enterprise by preparing its employees for digital challenges that are likely to arise. This means raising employee awareness of potential security issues and risks, and training IT and security professionals to handle the latest threats.

Deloitte’s bottom line: people are part of the problem when it comes to information security, so they need to be part of the solution. Training and awareness may help TMT organizations manage the risks from new technologies.

Mr. Ravin Prasad, Director of the EC Council Academy Australia & New Zealand says, “Australia is in urgent need of cyber security education. With the number of attacks and vulnerabilities on the rise, organizations and all security professionals need to know how to safeguard themselves from malpractices that can put their company at risk. With our globally adopted courses and trainings, we hope to educate these budding professionals so they are equipped to support organizations in their mission critical business needs that continue to grow. With this program we wish to make the Australian market more secure in the global cyber space.”
