On March 6, Lorna Kleidman comments on an article posted by The Shields Gazette detailing the development of a family fitness class centered on kettlebell exercises.

According to The Shields Gazette article, people who regularly participated in fitness classes often sought ways to encourage their children to exercise, too. Considering the requests, the trainer was stated to have done research into kettlebell exercises, finding them to be a safe, versatile and family-friendly exercise tool. The research ultimately led to a trial class with a family group. The article claims that the participants that signed up are still currently taking classes; participants said that the exercise sessions are positive experiences that facilitate family bonding.

The kettlebell exercises are described as being able to help with either weight loss or muscle toning, depending upon one’s current level of fitness. The benefits are said to extend to any member of the family, regardless of age. The training the families undergo incorporates exercises to enhance strength, flexibility and cardiovascular health. Games were devised as a motivational measure to aid exercise participants.

Lorna Kleidman, developer of the KettleX training program, comments on the importance of finding motivation to achieve fitness goals. “Fitness is such an important aspect of life, especially for the younger generations. Family fitness is especially important today – parents need to set the example as our children spend less and less time engaged in physical activity. Kids under 18 average more than seven hours a day tethered to media devices. That's a huge chunk of their time and mental energy spent being sedentary. A family training program emphasizing the use of kettlebells is a great idea. The parents and children can both reap the health benefits of efficient kettlebell exercises, including enhanced cardio, endurance, muscular symmetry and strong bones. Regardless of their age or fitness level, appropriate use of kettlebells will only help develop a better body along with increased self esteem. They're an easy opportunity to let parents be a positive role model for their kids.”
