EnerG2 (http://www.energ2.com), a Seattle-based company manufacturing advanced nano-structured materials for next-generation energy storage applications, today announced that it has achieved ISO 9001:2008 certification.
A year after coming online, EnerG2’s Albany, Oregon, facility remains the only manufacturing plant in the world dedicated to the commercial-scale production of engineered carbon materials destined for use in energy storage applications. This certification, covering all processes related to energy storage materials manufacturing and research and development activities, is a significant milestone that further demonstrates the increasing depth of EnerG2’s materials manufacturing expertise.
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) describes the 9001:2008 certification as: The requirements for a quality management system in which an organization must demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements; the organization must also enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement as well as adherence to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements. This certification has been provided to both EnerG2 locations: the company’s Seattle headquarters and its Albany manufacturing facility.

EnerG2’s 74,000-square-foot Albany operation leverages the company’s proprietary Carbon Technology Platform (CTP) to produce engineered high-purity carbon materials for a wide range of energy storage applications. The CTP allows EnerG2 to manufacture best-in-class materials for batteries (Li-Ion anodes, Lead-acid additives, and other advanced chemistry electrodes) and ultracapacitors.
The EnerG2 manufacturing process controls the molecular structure and synthesis of these advanced materials at the earliest production stages. The proprietary process provides flexibility and reduced costs, all while maximizing the performance of the devices into which the materials are integrated. Delivering these tailored carbons to energy storage device manufacturers allows the manufacturers to increase device utilization and performance; as a result, they can offer end consumers a fundamentally better cost-for-performance tradeoff.
