BuyVia Analytics Reveal The Samsung 55” 3D LED TV Is The Most Scanned Product at Retail; 61% of Shopping App Users are Female

BuyVia, an app and website that provide the first all-in-one smart shopping experience across devices, today released analytics detailing the most searched and scanned products. The analytics revealed that “TV,” “iPad,” “Kindle Fire,” “iPad Mini” and “laptops” were the top five most searched items through the app while “Dell,” “iPhone,” “laptops,” “cameras” and “TV” were the five most searched products through the website. Analytics also showed that the number one scanned item through the QR/UPC scanning capability was the Samsung 55 inch 3D LED TV. BuyVia’s new deal database contains around 1 million products—20 times more than at the time of launch in November 2012. Additionally, BuyVia app users are 61% female and 39% male—a possible implication of a shift in the stereotype that technology shopping is a male dominated area of interest.

“When it comes to the most popular consumer electronics Apple products still reign,” said Norman Fong, Co-Founder and CEO of BuyVia. “What’s particularly interesting is that Kindle Fire remains at the top despite the ongoing rumors of Kindle’s dwindling popularity. While the Kindle Fire may not have as much market share as the iPad, it’s a solid product that is clearly here to stay.”

Additional site analytics found the top three deals that were most clicked on via the website were the Samsung Galaxy Tablet 2 7.0, the Asus 11.6 inch touch screen laptop and Skylanders Giants Scorpion Xbox 360 Console Bundle. However, the top three deals that were most clicked on through the app were the iPhone 5 AT&T, AppleTV and a Canon T4i Camera.

BuyVia App Demographics
The majority (38%) of BuyVia app users are between 35-54 years old, 28% are 25-34, 16% are 55+ and 11% are 18-24. BuyVia app users are primarily (86%) based in North America, 12% are in Asia and 2% are in other countries. Currently, 34% of BuyVia app users access the mobile app through an iPhone 4S, 28% use an iPhone 4, 21% use an iPhone 5 and 9% use an iPad.
