Daytona Bike Week Set to Kick Off Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary Global Celebration

Ladies, start your engines and ride for the fight against muscle disease at the sixth annual Harley-Davidson MDA Women’s Ride during Daytona Bike Week on Tuesday, March 12 to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

        Hundreds of women riders are registered to rumble through Daytona for the annual MDA Women’s Ride beginning at 9 a.m. at Riverfront Park on Beach Street, ending at Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona.

        All bikes are welcome to participate with a minimum $50 donation to the Association. Riders can register online, or arrive at 8 a.m. the day of the event to register in person.    

        Contributions of more than $150 will earn riders commemorative 2013 MDA Women's Ride gear. The top-three fundraisers will receive special recognition on the day of the event and be awarded Harley-Davidson gift cards. All registered riders will receive a 2013 MDA Harley-Davidson commemorative pin and a 2013 MDA Women’s Ride flag for their bike.

Daytona Bike Week

        Daytona Bike Week 2013 kicks off Harley-Davidson's global 110th Anniversary celebration. From March 9-16, motorcycle enthusiasts can enjoy custom bike shows, motorcycle displays, demo rides, live music, both silent and online auctions featuring one-of-a-kind Harley-Davidson merchandise, and special events happening daily.

        This year's Harley-Davidson Daytona Bike Week Motorcycle Raffle will feature a one-of-a-kind 2013 Street Glide motorcycle customized with loads of Harley-Davidson Genuine Motor Accessories. Raffle tickets will only be available at the MDA booth at the Harley-Davidson exhibit. The tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20. Ticket sales start Saturday, March 9, and end at 4 p.m. March 16, when the drawing takes place. All proceeds will benefit families served by MDA.

        Since 1980, Harley-Davidson’s family of dealers, customers, employees, suppliers and H.O.G. (Harley Owners Group) chapters has raised more than $84.1 million for the Association. Funds raised during Daytona Bike Week help send MDA kids to weeklong summer camps at no cost to families, and provide vital services and resources to those affected by muscular dystrophy and related diseases.

Harley-Davidson’s 110th Anniversary

        Harley-Davidson is celebrating its 110th anniversary in style with year-round rides and events connecting fans from around the world throughout 2013. The 110th anniversary experience features 12 events in 11 different countries across six continents, and will be capped by two main entertainment-packed celebration events in Rome, Italy and Milwaukee.

        The Harley-Davidson 110th Anniversary European Celebration in Rome will feature a party in the Port of Ostia, a parade through the center of Rome and a major concert to wrap up the European events. The top-five fundraising riders for MDA will be invited to join the celebration abroad with an all-expenses-paid trip from June 13-16, 2013.     

        Harley-Davidson fans will complete the yearlong festivities on Labor Day weekend at the Milwaukee 110th Anniversary Celebration. Keeping with tradition, the Parade of MDA Heroes is set to kick off the celebration on Aug. 31 to showcase the generosity of Harley-Davidson riders and their passion for helping to provide independence for children and adults served by MDA.     

        The first 110 riders with the highest contributions for the Association will be invited to ride at the front of the Parade of Heroes. Participating riders can collect pledges and donations for MDA through any local Harley-Davidson dealer or at any H.O.G. ride for MDA nationwide.

        The epic event also will feature three headlining concerts, a party on the shore of Lake Michigan, fan-organized rides and much more.
