Following an article about the dangers of circulatory conditions like deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, PRO Compression releases a statement urging people to be proactive about potential blood clots.

On March 20, 2013, following an article on The Cross Timbers Gazette, PRO Compression, manufacturers of athletic compression socks, releases a statement about the dangers of conditions like deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).

According to The Cross Timbers Gazette article, people are always on the move, but they do a lot less walking and a lot more driving. And while March is DVT Awareness Month, the condition generally doesn't garner a lot of attention because it shares effects with some other illnesses.

Dr. Handley, who operates the Flower Mound Vein Center said, “One may experience a sudden leg swelling in the calf. Left untreated, it can travel up to and through the thighs. Should a section break off, forming a PE, it can travel upwards to the lungs and heart."

The article highlights the dangers of DVT and PE, mentioning that 300 to 600 thousand people in the U.S. alone are affected by the symptoms each year, and that there are 200 to 300 thousand related PE deaths a year.

The article goes on to mention that “Dr. Handley explains that many patients are treated with blood thinners or compression socks, designed to aid with support and blood flow.”

Eric Smith, CEO of PRO Compression, knows how important compression socks can be to the treatment of PE or DVT. “Pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis are serious issues that can cause major health problems if not treated. Compression socks help with PE and DVT because of the great support they offer and how they help with blood flow around your feet.”
