NACE International, The Corrosion Society, announces the opening of its new country offices in Shanghai, China as well as West Asia and Africa Area office in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. The association, a technical society of corrosion control professionals, has experienced increased global demand for its technical events, corrosion training and certification courses, and is opening these new offices to serve its members in these areas.
Bei Gu, the China Country Manager located at the NACE Shanghai office, says the Shanghai office will provide China-based members of NACE with more local programs that promote the exchange of corrosion information and education.
“In China, we are seeing more university graduates and young professionals getting interested in the corrosion field,” says Gu. “With an office in Shanghai, NACE can lend a hand directly to these professionals. Our educational courses provide corrosion training that is recognized globally. Our events provide networking opportunities for those looking for jobs in the industry.”
Dr. Gasem Fallatah, a long time NACE member, heads the NACE International West Asia and Africa Area office located in Al-Khobar, in the Eastern province of Saudi Arabia.
“We are able to conduct more conferences, seminars and workshops for new and established members who have expressed a need for more corrosion programs in the area,” says Fallatah. “The Al-Khobar office will directly service our members who desire more technical training, participation in NACE events, and leadership roles in the development of technical standards.”
“As the organization continues to grow worldwide, we recognize the importance of having a presence in our fastest growing regions,” said Bob Chalker, Executive Director of NACE International. “The need for these new offices is a positive sign that corrosion control and prevention is being recognized as an important factor in infrastructure development and preservation around the world.”
