We are excited to work with our partners on this new initiative, grown from a need we identified with our clients.

Washington, DC –Salsa Labs, Inc.(Salsa), creator of the online and integrated platform for nonprofits of all sizes to build their support base, today announced the launch of a new certification microsite called The free 12-class program offers participants who are new to nonprofit outreach, or looking for best practices online, the chance to learn the most effective ways to increase their organization’s support base.

Salsa continues to lead the charge by stepping up its efforts to provide new educational opportunities for nonprofits. Partnering with leading organizations to train and certify key professionals seeking new skills will give nonprofits another tool in their arsenal to manage, engage and cultivate new supporters.

“We are excited to work with our partners on this new initiative, grown from a need we identified with our clients,” said Christine Schaefer, vice president, community and marketing for Salsa. “We have been offering best practices advice for online organizing for awhile through webinars and blog articles. After seeing how much response we’ve gotten to our education efforts from nonprofit professionals from both small and large organizations, we decided to give them something more structured.”

Classes are roughly 30 minutes each and are taught by the best strategists in the industry including Nasser Asif, director of marketing for See3 Communications; John Hlinko, founder of Left Action; Brenna Holmes, director of the interactive department at Chapman, Cubine, Adams and Hussey. Topics include an introductory course on gaining new supporters, a lesson on adapting a campaign to be mobile friendly and even a session on digital outreach using search engine optimization and search engine marketing. Students can take the classes at their own pace, and in any order, by watching the video, perusing supplemental reading and completing the short study guide quizzes. When ready, they can also take a fifty question, multiple-choice exam to test their understanding.

After successfully completing the exam, organizers will become Grow Your Support certified and receive a PDF certificate of completion, an electronic certification icon, and recommendations for further study.

“Experienced individuals or those new to the profession can benefit from the best practices taught throughout the program," said Jake Patoski, training and learning manager for Salsa. "Technology alone isn’t enough to create a great organizer. This coursework will provide a solid foundation of skills needed to engage supporters and grow their base. Being Grow Your Base certified will provide nonprofit professionals with a distinct advantage by demonstrating that they have a solid understanding of online organizing.”
