Walsh Construction and the project team for the Bradley West Gates and Core Project at Los Angeles International Airport earned Best Public Project at the 2013 Commercial Real Estate Awards.
Walsh Construction Company is general contractor on the project as part of the Walsh Austin Joint Venture. Fentress Architects is prime architect. HNTB Corporation is associate architect for the project and also led the programming and planning.
The awards, presented by the Los Angeles Business Journal on Feb. 20, recognized the biggest, best and most notable commercial real estate projects and transactions of the past 18 months.
The Best Public Project award honored work at the new Tom Bradley International Terminal as part of the LAX Master Plan. The revamp expands the existing terminal by adding two concourses and 15 new contact gates; nine of the new gates will accommodate the latest double-decker aircrafts. Additional work includes renovating the Customs and Border Protection Area, improving the Departures Level amenities and adding a new Baggage Claim area.
