nProtect Inc. announced that the company will soon release an anti-Smishing (SMS Phishing) solution to protect mobile smartphone users against increased phishing attempts via short message service (SMS).
nProtect, a leading provider of end-point security solutions to protect online and mobile banking users from cyber fraud and theft, announced that it has developed a new security solution that will protect mobile smartphone users from smishing attacks and plans to make it available soon. Exponential growth in smartphone usage has consequentially led to higher rates of phishing using smartphone’s SMS feature as well as malicious application attacks especially targeting mobile banking and payment transactions.
Malicious apps are increasingly being distributed through Google Play and third-party market places; however, most malicious apps and other mobile threats are being carried out through SMS for Android devices.
nProtect’s research center is currently collecting and analyzing malicious apps and SMS links, which have no geographical boundaries. nProtect’s database include thousands of the top malware that are causing the greatest damage from around the world and applying these patterns to prevent attacks from the newest mobile threats. This new innovative method, compared to basic preventive measure used by other security solutions that check the installation process of an app, greatly reduces the chance of misdiagnosis and error while reducing the smartphone’s system resource usage.
nProtect’s anti-smishing security solution is expected to alleviate some of the major problems caused by fraudulent mobile transactions, DDoS and other mobile related crimes by raising security standards in smartphone devices. The nProtect anti-smishing security solution will be offered free of charge.
