Ms. Shih recognized based on her industry leadership and innovation in transforming the way global companies do business on social media

Hearsay Social, provider of the world’s most trusted social sales and marketing platform, announced today that its CEO and founder Clara Shih has been honored by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader (YGL). Joining her are William James Adams (aka, the US singer and recording artist, whose Foundation transforms lives through education, inspiration, and opportunity; Chelsea Clinton, board member, Clinton Foundation and special correspondent for NBC News; and Nate Silver, the statistician who calculated Barack Obama had a 90% chance of winning the 2012 presidential election and crunched polling data to successfully predict the result in 50 out of 50 states. Past inductees into the Forum of Young Global Leaders include CEO and founder Marc Benioff and Google founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page.

Ms. Shih was granted this prestigious honor for her industry leadership and innovation in transforming the way global companies do business on social media. Ms. Shih demonstrated this game-changing approach to social media in 2007, when she developed the first social business application, Faceforce, and subsequently authored the New York Times-featured bestseller, The Facebook Era, now used as a marketing textbook at Harvard Business School. She then founded Hearsay Social, the world’s most trusted social sales and marketing platform, empowering large companies to build stronger customer relationships, grow revenue, and bolster their brands across social networks.

Drawn from a pool of several thousand candidates, the 2013 YGLs were chosen by a committee, chaired by H.M. Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The selection was based on the proven track record of the individual, his or her leadership experience, ability to overcome adversity, and commitment to society.

“The Forum of Young Global Leaders provides a unique effort to engage the younger generation into the management of global affairs, working together and being integrated into the larger Forum community. The Young Global Leaders have an exceptional opportunity to improve the state of the world,” Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman, World Economic Forum.

“Recognition by the World Economic Forum is a humbling experience for me,” said Ms. Shih. “I believe in the transformative power of technology and am passionate about how social media will transform business-to-customer relationships worldwide. It is an honor to have the opportunity to share this passion with other leaders from around the world.”
