Salon Lofts has brought its unique salon model to greater Indianapolis with retail locations that create new opportunities for beauty professionals to own their own businesses and provide consumers with more high-end service options.

Salon Lofts, based in Columbus, Ohio, opened its first Indianapolis location in November 2012 at the Fashion Mall at Keystone, 8555 North River Road. Three more locations are slated for early- to mid-2013, including Merchant Square, 2316 E. 116th St., Carmel, which will open March 31; Ashley Crossing, 740 Fry Road, Suite A, Greenwood, opening in April; and Cool Creek Village, 2740 E. 146th St., Carmel, opening this summer.

Beyond these four outlets, Salon Lofts aggressively is searching for additional Indianapolis locations to open later in 2013.

“Indianapolis is ripe for growth based on the fact that the demographics of this market are very similar to those of other communities where Salon Lofts beauty professionals have experienced tremendous success,” said Salon Lofts CEO Daniel Sadd. “Clearly, beauty professionals in this region are looking for opportunities to own their own businesses. Our biggest differentiator is that we provide them with a proven business model that minimizes their risk while giving them access to innovative technology tools to grow their businesses in new ways.”

Salon Lofts provides loft space for experienced beauty professionals who want to operate an independent business and nurture their own client relationships. Proprietary software and web tools developed by Salon Lofts enable loft owners to connect with potential and existing clients through Internet marketing mediums. Salon Lofts helps drive clients to loft owners through its strong brand, social media and search engine optimization.

Consumers can access the Open Chair web application, which enables customers to pick a beauty professional based on location, service or price, and to compare service providers, view testimonials or make suggestions. Consumers also have the ability to book appointments online through Open Chair. No one in the industry offers a comparable tool.

A number of beauty professionals at the Fashion Mall are taking appointments for hair, skin, nail and massage services. A limited amount of loft space still is available at the Fashion Mall for beauty professionals. Loft spaces also are available in the other Indianapolis area locations. On average, each location has 25 lofts.

The Indianapolis plans are part of a broad expansion strategy by Salon Lofts, which has 31 locations with nearly 800 loft owners. By the close of 2013, Salon Lofts expects to open 15 to 20 locations. In addition to Indianapolis, the company operates in Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Tampa Bay.

The success of Salon Lofts is evident in the retention rate of its beauty professionals. Nine of every 10 beauty professionals stays beyond the lease term.
