Pickmoto, a Bay Area startup, has released its newest iPhone app for March Madness that makes it easy for fans to create pools, make picks, and smacktalk from their phones. The game itself allows fans to make picks round-by-round, instead of picking the entire Tournament before the action starts, which is a twist on the traditional March Madness bracket.

Pickmoto makes it easy for fans to predict, compete, and smacktalk in the time while they’re in line, at a meeting, or on the can.

Pickmoto, a Bay Area startup, has released its latest iPhone app for March Madness. College Hoops Tourney makes it easy for NCAA fans - basically everyone in March - to create pools, make picks, and smacktalk. There is also a web play option for those without an iPhone or iPad.

The app is free to play. There are a couple in-app purchases: (1) Premium Pools for $1.99 = pools greater than 8 players + wager management and (2) Premium Accounts for $0.99 = full profile + more game stats.

The game itself is a twist on the traditional Tournament bracket. Instead of picking the entire Tournament’s games before the action starts, fans make picks round-by-round. So, there are no first-round bracket busters, and you make later-round picks after actually seeing the teams play. You can also start a pool mid-Tournament. For example, you can form a pool just for Sweet 16 games and beyond.

  •          Points increase each round
  •     $100 Amazon gift card to the top overall score
  •     Pools, chat, wager management
  •     Stats, Leaderboards, Curated News
  •     Play on iPhone or on the Pickmoto website

Pickmoto’s goal is build the easiest way to run your office pools. Many of its early users found its apps because they were searching for an easier method than email or spreadsheet. So Pickmoto has focused recently on delivering tools to better organize and manage pool play.

Pickmoto launched in the Fall with iPhone and iPad apps for the NFL and NBA. The 3-man startup’s mission is to disrupt the sports game space, which remains stuck on the web. Pickmoto’s first releases saw enthusiasm and stellar engagement, from hardcore and casual sports fans alike. Users have made close to 1 million picks so far. Pickmoto’s games tap into fans’ desire to engage with sports and with friends without having to spend the time and commitment that more traditional web games demand.
