Accomplished Actor Announces New Campaign for Baby Boomers

The Drive-Thru, Make It Your Own ® Campaign Aims to Increase Emotional Relevance for How Baby Boomers Are Portrayed in the Media.

We’re not the stories our parents and grandparents told about themselves. We’re baby boomers. This is our story. This is our voice. And this is our time.

Determined to change the image people have of baby boomers, Joanie Marx, who is an accomplished actor on stage, film and television, is officially launching her Drive-Thru, Make It Your Own® campaign. According to Marx, the image the media has sold to the world of a baby boomer is not even close to being accurate and this campaign is created to change that.

“When my friends and I look at the commercials and advertisements that seem to portray baby boomers as slow, elderly and obsolete we’re left scratching our heads and wondering – ‘who do these companies think they’re advertising to…our parents and grandparents?’ It certainly isn’t us,” Marx says. “I knew something had to be done to change this so I created the character McGranny.”

The loveable and popular character McGranny has appeared in three spec commercials and is the focal point of the campaign. Marx is now launching a social media platform around the character as a means to show baby boomers are far from the clichéd personalities often portrayed in commercials and in the media.

According to Marx, “Today’s baby boomers are nothing like the previous 55 and older generations. And I’m here to prove it. What inspired me to launch the Drive-Thru, Make It Your Own® campaign is to tell the other side of the story. The campaign involves a number of social media platforms, with each of them offering inspiring, humorous and thought provoking content to reinforce that baby boomers are a powerful and influential force to be reckoned with.”

From serving as a baby boomer spokesperson and consultant to producing original content on a McGranny branded website, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channel, Marx is aiming to make a significant impact on how baby boomers are perceived by both the media and baby boomers themselves.

"The story we tell ourselves has already changed. The chapter of our story that says our lives are less than the quality we deserve after 55 is closed," Marx explains. "A new and more vibrant chapter has emerged. We’re not the stories our parents and grandparents told about themselves. We’re baby boomers. This is our story. This is our voice. And this is our time."
