Medical oxygen provider Inogen One made a donation of a portable oxygen concentrator to support a Goleta, Calif. child’s Make-A-Wish trip to Disney World.

In conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Inogen was proud to make 4 year old Rudy’s dream of going to Disney World a reality.

It is said that everyone has a role to play. In the case of giving one young boy the trip of a lifetime, the role of Inogen One was to provide a simple solution to a complex challenge. 4-year-old Rudy Geyling, who has struggled with a heart condition since birth, was to be whisked away with his family on a dream vacation to Disney World through the Make-A-Wish foundation. But in order to travel safely to the resort from their California home, and move within Disney World, he would need portable medical oxygen to support his breathing. This is where Inogen came in, donating a portable oxygen concentrator that was easy to carry around and pre-approved for air travel. With the help of anonymous donors, Inogen was able to let the Geyling family keep the oxygen concentrator once the trip came to an end.

Rudy suffers from hypoplastic left heart syndrome, which means that the left side of his heart is severely underdeveloped, but he is also not currently eligible for a heart transplant or corrective surgery. He requires medical oxygen at all times, and getting him around was once referred to as the “Rudy parade” because of the amount of moving parts and family members it required. The Inogen One portable oxygen concentrator has made it easier to get Rudy around in his wheelchair, and at Disney World, he was able to enjoy all that the amusement park had to offer.

“In conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Inogen was proud to make 4-year old Rudy’s dream of going to Disney World a reality,” said Melinda Barlow of Inogen. “Not only were we pleased to loan him a unit for the trip, we were even happier to work with anonymous donors to provide him a system he can keep!”

A small role to play, but Inogen was happy to play it, in making one boy’s dream vacation come true.
