NetCom Learning, the leader in IT and business training had one of its most successful years to date in 2012 and is continuing toward its goal of holding 10% market share of the learning industry in the next 20 years. To reach that goal, the company has focused on its training department which trains and hires NetCom Learning instructors and ensures the quality of the company’s training solutions. The department is overseen by Eugenia Bachaleda, Training Operation Manager who is in charge hiring instructors, making sure that they are exceptionally prepared to teach and the training sessions are successful.
“Our instructors are one of the most important elements in NetCom Learning’s company success,” said Russell Sarder, CEO of NetCom Learning.
“Our clients trust us to have fully prepared, certified and experienced instructors that are able to provide our students with the training they need to do their jobs, get certified and succeed in their companies,” said Sarder.
Rigorous Hiring Process
NetCom Learning has a rigorous interview and hiring process for all new prospective instructors. Eugenia Bachaleda states that the hiring process is taken very seriously at NetCom Learning and that it starts with an in depth interview with her. This interview is then followed by the production of a teaching demo which is evaluated by a team of training coordinators to see the individual’s presentation skills, and teaching style. A subject matter expert will then meet with the applicant to verify that the applicant has the required skills in their area of subject expertise to be able to teach a class. Candidates that make it to the next step are then they must take an intensive train the trainer instructional class to ensure they are prepared to teach in the NetCom Learning style. This training is followed by a co-teaching step where the new instructor is paired with an experienced NetCom Learning teacher. According to Eugenia, the process of evaluation of instructors does not end there but includes a continuous assessment which allows the instructors to improve their skills on an ongoing basis. Instructors are also given specific training for both teaching online, in boot camps and in classroom settings.
The hiring and training process for instructors has worked to ensure that NetCom Learning teachers are top notch and well qualified. On average instructors have 16 years of experience in their area of expertise and training and a cumulative average of more than 10,500 years of experience. NetCom Learning instructors routinely achieve high ratings from their students with an average instructor evaluation of 8.6 out of 9, one of the highest instructor evaluations in the industry. The high quality of training has resulted in over 1,700 testimonials and a 96% customer satisfaction rate with those customers indicating they would recommend NetCom Learning to others. The quality of the instructors is also tied very closely to class pass rates for certification exams. NetCom Learning consistently reports high pass rates for all their courses including boot camps. Recently, 100% of the students in NetCom Learning's ITIL and ITSM Foundation exams, MCTS and MCITP: Windows Server 2008 R2, Virtualization Boot Camp exams, and A+ and Network+ Certification courses were able to pass their certification exams after taking NetCom Learning coursework.
Students who attend NetCom Learning classes have a variety of training options when they register for a class. Students may decide to take traditional classroom instruction at one of NetCom Learning’s training facilities, customized private training, or live online training. An option for students who are looking to get the most training in the shortest amount of time may decide to go with an intensive boot camp which allows students to prepare for more than one certification exam at a time.
