After an SNL skit featuring Justin Timberlake as a rapping piece of tofu, vegetarians and vegans are praising the video for its positive message to eat healthy. Yumi Media responds to the skit and offers to do the ‘Vegan Harlem Shake’ with Justin Timberlake.

On March 18, Yumi Media, a food website devoted to delivering the latest and greatest in food news, recipes, and products to incorporate into your own healthy lifestyle, responds to a Saturday Night Live skit where Justin Timberlake raps about the positive message of vegetarianism dressed as a giant piece of tofu.

Justin Timberlake recently appeared on NBC's Saturday Night Live, playing “a mascot for a vegan restaurant waging a turf war against an irate sausage slinger,” reports Miami New Times.

Timberlake's lyrics were an ode to healthy eating as he professed his love for veg favorites like quinoa and kale. Dressed as a giant, dancing piece of tofu, Timberlake parodied the lyrics from songs such as Rhianna’s We Found Love, Freak Out and Ice, Ice, Baby, reports Miami New Times.

"Bring it on down to Veganville!" Justin Timberlake challenged his sausage nemesis in his ‘tofu suit’ during the SNL skit.

The article reports that vegans everywhere are rejoicing and sharing the hilarious video. According to Miami New Times, “JT (who some sources report is a vegetarian) portrays vegan eating as healthful, hip, hot, and humorous, but not in a ridiculous way. His character doesn't flinch or drool at the fat sausage man's offer for a frank. It gives veganism mainstream exposure with a beloved superstar at the center, even if his head is sticking out of a not-very-appetizing grayish tofu costume.”

“We ‘found love in a meatless place’ too because of Justin Timberlake,” comments Justin Maas, Yumi Media spokesperson. “JT’s message to the non-vegan/vegetarian community portrayed the healthy lifestyle in a positive light. Vegetarians that eat foods like Quorn despite the Quorn complaints are ecstatic about this video.”

Maas adds, “We thank Mr. Timberlake for his performance and look forward to doing a little Vegan Harlem Shake with the pop star.”
