Nearly 70% of flooring samples ordered from the website are requested by women

The staff at Green Apple are constantly using their website’s analytical data to gather interesting facts about their customer base.
The most recent statistics to emerge from the company’s web team have ascertained that nearly 70% of flooring samples ordered from the website are requested by women. Interestingly, in comparison, nearly 70% of sales are made by men. These stats clearly offer a fascinating insight into the differing roles that both genders play in the online buying cycle.
Green Apple came to these conclusions by recording the Christian names of each customer to determine whether they are male or female. As the retailer’s Managing Director Stephen MacVicar explains, it’s a rather unconventional way of gleaning data, but the information will allow them to refine all aspects of the website to provide each demographic with a better shopping experience.
“From this data we can categorically state that women are often more interested in picking out the right colour and style for their home, whereas men will typically enter the buying process at a later stage when the purchase is nearing completion,” he says.
“Though this scenario is generally accepted as the cliché, having evidence that proves there is some truth in it means we can begin to predict which design features on the site are going to provoke a more positive reaction from the buyer. We can adjust our copy, visuals and even our calls to actions to ensure they appeal to different genders, and can use this information to fine-tune our marketing strategy.”
