Early Sunday morning fire at Bluegreen Vacations' Resort Shenandoah Crossing leaves the majority of the resort fully functional; damage minimal.

“We are extremely proud of everyone’s rapid response,” said General Manager Jeff Musselman.

Bluegreen Corporation (“Bluegreen Vacations™”), a leading vacation ownership marketing, sales and hospitality company, experienced a fire at its Gordonsville, VA, resort, Shenandoah Crossing, early Sunday morning. The resort sustained limited serious damage to the particular building in which it started leaving the majority of the resort unharmed and fully functional.

The fire broke out at approximately 1:49am Sunday in the building referred to as The Lodge, containing the resort’s onsite full-service restaurant, bar, administrative offices and 48 sleeping rooms. Ten of these rooms were occupied at the time of the fire.

The fire alarm system alerted staff and guests of the situation. Two resort associates were on property when the fire broke out and went door-to-door to confirm all of the occupants had exited safely. Evacuated guests were moved to the resort’s General Store, given blankets and coffee and all were provided alternative accommodations on the property.

General Manager Jeff Musselman says the damage was sustained in the restaurant kitchen, dining room, bar and meeting room space. Because the damage is located in the center of the building, the entire building will be out of service until further notice, affecting 48 of the resort’s total 398 accommodations, including cabins and yurts.

“We are extremely proud of everyone’s rapid response,” Musselman said. “The local fire stations were here extremely quickly, and within the hour, we had about 20 associates on the scene to assist, who would have otherwise not been on property.” The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
