Cherokee Nation Red Wing has been awarded a $4.2 million contract with the U.S. Army to provide logistical management and support services for the precision fire rocket and missile systems at Red River Army Depot.

“As Chief, few things make me prouder than knowing our companies are supporting the great servicemen and women of this country,” said Cherokee Nation Principal Chief Bill John Baker. “The Cherokee Nation’s commitment to the military spans generations. Many of our citizens have dedicated their lives, and some have made the ultimate sacrifice, to protect the United States of America.”

CNRW, the security and defense division of Cherokee Nation Businesses, will provide warehousing, inventory, storage and program management services for the Joint Attack Munitions Systems. JAMS includes Army aviation rockets and missiles, including the multiple launch rocket system and the high mobility artillery rocket system. The contract also includes evaluation and maintenance to select launching systems.

“Our mission is to support the warfighters with quality and innovative solutions, specifically in sustaining and repairing military equipment,” said Russell Claybrook, president of Cherokee Nation Red Wing. “We want to ensure our warfighters are prepared and equipped with reliable systems that are ready and available when needed.”

The three-year contract expands CNRW’s relationship with the U.S. Army and develops upon its previous work with close combat weapon systems. The company plans to continue exploring additional opportunities within the Army’s tactical and air defense missile programs.

CNRW was formed in 2009 to expand on the Cherokee Nation’s history of supporting the Department of Defense with manufacturing components. Today, CNRW provides materials and services across the nation in support of changing warfighter needs. Wholly owned by the Cherokee Nation, CNRW is a division of Cherokee Nation Businesses.

Red River Army Depot, in Texarkana, Texas, opened in 1941 to serve as an ammunition storage facility and today serves as maintenance support for the U.S. Army.
