On March 14, 2013, a select group of business leaders in the Philadelphia region came together for a Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce event hosted by Markitects, Inc., a long standing B2B strategic marketing firm and Chamber member. Francine Carb, Founder, President, and CEO of Markitects, led a discussion regarding innovation in business, and how it can help drive momentum, propelling companies beyond the conventional. Fifteen organizations, representing several of the areas utilities, engineering firms, and information technology companies, attended this informal gathering held at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia.
According to Rob Wonderling, President and CEO of The Chamber, “These periodic dinners have proven to be an excellent forum to discuss current issues affecting the business community and address how to leverage regional strengths, as well as a unique opportunity to learn more about our individual enterprises. We definitely accomplished that goal with Francine Carb leading our discussion regarding the process of innovation and how our businesses and organizations can capitalize on all that’s happening in our region.”
Francine spoke about innovation as a multi-faceted process with checks and balances. “Forward thinking requires backward analysis. The strategic innovation process begins with studying the past, evaluating competitors, and then taking a leap of faith into your company’s potentially big, hairy, innovative future! Only then can you map out a path toward achieving something truly game changing.”
Francine continued, “Whether you are a small privately held company or a multi-faceted public entity, the process remains the same. It requires a willingness to think and work outside our comfort zones. Without it, we would not have the number of quality of innovations we enjoy today. We are fortunate to be in a room full of motivated business leaders interested in driving innovation and moving beyond the expected.”
