Following an article that asserts that combining kettlebells and kickboxing together in a workout can have great results, kettlebell expert Lorna Kleidman releases a statement.

On March 21, 2013, kettlebell champion Lorna Kleidman releases a statement in response to a Shape article by Alanna Nunez regarding the workout of combining kettlebells with kickboxing, and how it can help burn calories.

According to the Shape article, combining kettlebells with kickboxing can help with resistance training, lifting and sculpting different “trouble zones” on the body, and can also help burn more calories even after you finish exercising.

“You can sculpt the exact body you want with weights,” says the article. “Let's say you have a great piece of marble, and you want to turn that stone into a beautiful sculpture: Weights are your tools to do that. Plus lean muscles will serve as a great source of injury prevention, not only during activity but internally, helping to build a healthier, stronger body."

The article recommends using an 8-to-15 pound kettlebell for the exercise routine, and to make sure to take 15 second breaks between each exercise.

Kettlebell champion Lorna Kleidman understands just how effective exercising with kettlebells can be. “Taking an exercise like kickboxing, which can be intensive on its own, and adding kettlebells takes it to another level. Your body will get used to its own weight without kettlebells, but once you add them in, it’s a completely new challenge for your body to try to handle! The bells have proven themselves to have a wide-ranging appeal to everyone from athletes to fitness novices – and many people are glad to learn that an effective kettlebell routine can be done at home.” Kleidman adds that it's a good idea to get an initial training session from a certified kettlebell expert to learn to use the bells properly, “but after that, the sky's the limit. Kettlebells can be your key to a fun and dynamic full-body workout.”

Lorna Kleidman is a three-time World Champion and World Record holder in kettlebell sport and the most decorated kettlebell athlete in the country. She developed the innovative methods used in KettleX as a way to bring the benefits of the bells to everyone in an easy-to-use, comprehensive and fun format. Lorna has been teaching individuals and group classes for the past six years.
