In 2005, working mother Sari Davidson (formerly Sari Crevin) created the first prototype of the SippiGrip when she became frustrated with her year-old son, Jake, throwing his sippy cup from his highchair, stroller and car seat. “Necessity really was the mother of invention. I could not find any product in the stores that met my needs,” Davidson said. In 2007, after an evolution of prototypes and testing, Sari launched the first SippiGrip, ending the sippy cup throwing game for good. SippiGrip was immediately chosen to participate in Target’s 2008 Parent Invented Products Program, which marked the beginning of Sari’s company, BooginHead, and focused on creating products to help make parents lives easier.
Over the course of the next three years, Sari continued her full time position as a Human Resources Manager for Microsoft while also concentrating on building the BooginHead product line. In 2010, once BooginHead reached over a million dollars in sales, she left her role at Microsoft to dedicate 100% of her time to BooginHead. From 2012 to 2013, BooginHead doubled in employees and had six successful product launches with five new products in development due to launch in Fall 2013. BooginHead can be found in various retailers globally including Walmart, Babies“R”Us and BuyBuyBaby.
BooginHead products have won many awards including the iParenting Media Awards and Creative Child Magazine’s Seal of Excellence Award. BooginHead has also been recognized as the #5 Fastest Growing Eastside Company and #27 Fasting Growing Washington Company by the Puget Sound Business Journal. Sari was one of the 2010’s Puget Sound Business Journal’s Prestigious ’40 Under 40’ awardee and Babble’s 2011 Top 50 Mompreneur’s. She has also contributed to Entrepreneur and Women Entrepreneur Magazine and has been featured in other publications. Sari frequently donates her time by speaking at conferences nationwide supporting and encouraging other businesswomen and entrepreneurs.
