Open-Silicon, Inc., a leading semiconductor design and manufacturing company, announced today that it will deliver a tutorial presentation at SNUG Silicon Valley on the integration of Synopsys’ DesignWare DDRn Memory Controller and DDR3/2 PHY in a 28nm home gateway application. The tutorial, presented by Girish Karanam, lead IP application engineer, and Ashish Veeramaneni, senior engineer of design technology and automation for Open-Silicon, will take place Monday, March 25, during the afternoon session starting at 3:45 p.m. at the Santa Clara Convention Center. Open-Silicon will also be at exhibiting at SNUG with other companies in the IP community.
This tutorial presents an overview of the steps and challenges involved in integrating Synopsys’ DesignWare DDRn Memory Controller and DDR3/2 PHY in a 28nm home gateway application. The DDRn Controller is configured per the application requirements using Synopsys coreConsultant tool and verified using the default PHY model. The same environment is modified to include the actual Synopsys DesignWare DDR PHY (configured using the online DDR PHY compiler) and the entire DDR subsystem is verified using the same set-up. This tutorial will also talk about the key items required to be checked for optimal DDR IO pad ring implementation during the back-end implementation of the PHY in the top-level design.
