Physicians at long term acute care hospital network embrace accuracy and efficiency of electronic notes

Our physicians are very excited because the electronic documentation workflow is consistent with the way they’re used to documenting care.

PatientKeeper® Inc., the leading provider of healthcare applications for physicians, today announced that Vibra Healthcare, LLC, one of the nation’s largest specialty healthcare providers, has completed the first phase of an enterprise-wide deployment of PatientKeeper NoteWriter™ electronic documentation software across its network of long term acute care hospitals.

Over 100 physicians are using NoteWriter at four Vibra hospitals in California and Ohio. Over the first four months of active usage, these physicians have produced more than 20,000 clinical notes using NoteWriter.

“PatientKeeper provides easy access and navigation to different elements in the health information system,” said Dr. Thiruvoipati Nanda Kumar, MD, at Vibra Hospital of Northern California in Redding, California. “This definitely elevates the process of progress note documentation by physicians to a higher level of efficiency and thoroughness.”

Vibra Healthcare, headquartered in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, is finding that PatientKeeper’s clinical and physician documentation software products enhance satisfaction among affiliated community physicians that practice at its facilities, some of whom already use PatientKeeper at other local hospitals where they practice.

“Our physicians are very excited because the electronic documentation workflow is consistent with the way they’re used to documenting care,” Marie Roof, Executive Vice President of Information Technology at Vibra Healthcare, said. “And PatientKeeper feeds directly into our EMR, creating a ‘closed loop’ system that pulls and pushes information to the core HIS systems to ensure that all patient data automatically becomes part of the medical record.”

In addition to NoteWriter, Vibra is deploying the PatientKeeper Physician Portal™ and PatientKeeper Mobile Clinical Results™, to provide physicians with “anytime, anywhere” access to patient information through desktop and laptop computers, smartphones and tablets.

PatientKeeper provides physicians with a single software environment to perform their daily work that streamlines workflow, saves physicians time, and drives voluntary physician adoption of technology. PatientKeeper provides a logical software layer that will sit on top of and integrate with Vibra Healthcare’s hospital information system (HIS).

PatientKeeper is designed as a physician-friendly “overlay” to a hospital information system, so hospitals can implement PatientKeeper without replacing any of their existing IT infrastructure. In addition to the cost and time-to-deploy advantages that stem from this technological approach, PatientKeeper’s intuitive solutions ultimately help improve the overall physician-to-patient care experience.

“It is gratifying to see the positive impact PatientKeeper is having on Vibra and its physicians,” said PatientKeeper president and CEO Paul Brient. “Improving physicians’ workflow is PatientKeeper’s mission, and we are witnessing it brought to life at Vibra.”
