EJL Wireless Research Predicts 20% Decline in Global TRx Shipments for 2013

The global base transmitting station (BTS) transceiver (TRx) market declined by 9.5% in units in 2012, according to the latest report from EJL Wireless Research titled “Global BTS Transceiver Market Analysis and Forecast, 9th Edition, 2012-2017.” “The decline in 2012 was the second consecutive year for the market. The market was within 10% of our prior forecast,” says founder and President, Earl Lum. The report provides a unique perspective on the global shipments and demand for base station equipment covering all air interface standards and frequencies and major OEMs including Alcatel-Lucent, Ericsson, Huawei Technologies, Nokia Siemens Networks, Samsung Electronics and ZTE.

Some key and notable facts from the analysis include:
EJL Wireless Research LLC was correct in predicting total TRx volume shipments within our stated goal of +/- 10%

“LTE shipments were up in 2012 as network deployments in North America drove shipment volumes for Bands 12/13/17 (700MHz), Bands 2/25 (1900Mz) and Bands 4/10 (2100MHz). The spectrum auction in Brazil also drove demand for Band 7 (2600MHz) while launches for BWA networks at Band 40 (2300MHz) in India contributed to overall growth. Finally, China Mobile's Phase 2 awards for Band 41 (2600MHz) added additional volumes.” says Lum.
