Ambiance, Ohio lingerie chain donates record amount to Heart Association's "Go Red For Women" campaign.

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of the “Go Red For Women” campaign, Ambiance once again took up a cause that aims to defeat the No. 1 killer of all Americans – heart disease. Ambiance, The Store for Lovers, has participated in the American Heart Association’s annual fundraiser since its inception, raising nearly $50,000 in the past decade.

“Ambiance is proud to support Go Red For Women,” says Jennifer Downey, president of Ambiance. “It’s a natural fit for us because we encourage women to be emotionally, sexually and physically healthy. We care about matters of the heart—figuratively and literally!”

Ambiance’s Ohio retail locations collected donations during January and February in support of the local Go Red For Women movement. The stores raised more than $9,000 this year, up 50 percent from contributions in 2012 and a record number for Ambiance.

“Ambiance is a fantastic partner for the Go Red For Women campaign,” says Megan B. French, director of the campaign. “By selling the red hearts in their stores, not only does Ambiance raise funds for life-saving research, but they also raise awareness of heart disease.” The Store for Lovers’ $9,000 contribution is the largest amount received from a company aside from event sponsors. “Kudos to Ambiance!” says French.

The top performing store was the Cuyahoga Falls location, raising $2,638 for the cause, followed closely by the Canton location that collected $2,229 in donations.

The Go Red For Women campaign is one of many philanthropies supported by Ambiance. Last fall, the company donated $5,000 to the JD Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition, Ambiance provided gift certificates totaling nearly $5,000 in 2012 to various fundraisers for local schools, sports teams, children’s and animal charities and more. “We have strong ties in northeast Ohio since the company was founded here in 1981,” says Downey. “It’s important to give back to our community, to help our customers, family and friends.”
