Following an article about the founding of Everyday Organic, a restaurant where everything they serve is 100% organic, Colle Farmers Market releases a statement.

On March 26, 2013, Colle Farmers Market releases a statement following a Greenville Online article by Mindy Friddle about how an organic garden eventually turned into an all-organic restaurant.

According to the Greenville Online article, Breighanna Newnham and her husband Taylor opened up the restaurant in 2010. The couple began to research the effects of chemicals and hormones after they graduated from Furman in 2008. Taylor eventually set up his own garden, and the couple began to shop for organic groceries.

Breighnna was quoted in the article as saying, “I was already cooking meals at home for family and friends for fun, but because of Taylor’s research about nutrition, we changed our diet. We were stuck eating at home. Most restaurants want your food to be delicious but not many can promise organic ingredients or whether they've thought about how long the vegetables were cooked.”

The article goes on to mention that Taylor was the one who suggest they open a café specializing in organic food. They started out serving lunch, but since they started the restaurant, their menu has expanded. They are now open seven days a week, serve both lunch and dinner, and even offer dessert. Everything on their menu remains 100% organic, from the grilled cheese sandwiches to the wine. Not only does the restaurant clearly support healthy eating, they also support local organic farms whenever possible.

The article also mentions that Everyday Organic generates less than one bag of trash a day. Scraps of leftover food are composted and paper products get recycled.

A representative from Colle Farmers Market applauds what Everyday Organic is doing for the growing organic food community. “Everyday Organic is doing great things for those who want to eat healthy. It’s not always easy to sit down and want to cook a meal, and when you focus on eating organic, it’s even harder to find a restaurant that has an organic food option. Everyday Organic is a step in the right direction to hopefully encourage others to develop organic food restaurants.”

Colle is an E-Commerce enabled farmers market community that is passionate about sustainable consumption and responsible conservation. The Colle movement is dedicated to connecting natural product vendors, organic farmers and all people who are living an organic and natural lifestyle.
