Pokki converts social games and free-to-play browser-based games into downloadable desktop versions, and then promotes them through Pokki’s partner network.
San Diego, California (PRWEB) March 27, 2013
SweetLabs®, the company behind Pokki®, the app platform for the PC, today announced the launch of the Pokki Game Network™ - an advertising network that helps game developers acquire users by converting their web and social games into desktop versions, and promoting these apps through leading PC software channels and app stores. Game developers and download partners can apply to join the Pokki Game Network at http://www.pokki.com/game-network/.
“Every game developer is looking to reach new players beyond the Facebook and mobile battlegrounds, and we’ve unlocked a substantial, ‘classic’ user acquisition opportunity for web and social games – software download channels,” said Chester Ng, co-founder and CMO of SweetLabs. “The Pokki Game Network brings traditionally browser-based games to the desktop so that download portals, app stores, and ISVs can offer these popular games to their massive user bases looking to download software onto their PCs.”
Pokki converts social games and free-to-play browser-based games into downloadable desktop versions, and then promotes them through Pokki’s partner network. The Pokki desktop versions maintain all of the web version’s features including support of existing social and payment mechanisms, and any updates to the web or social game versions automatically update in the desktop game. The Pokki desktop version of the game is then promoted through multiple channels including major download portals like Softonic and Download.com, ISVs like BitTorrent and Allmyapps, or app stores like the Windows Store and the Pokki Store.
"Through the Pokki Game Network, we are expanding our growing base of 300+ million registered players by offering free desktop versions of popular Bigpoint games through channels not previously accessible to web games,” said Robert Flickinger, General Manager at Bigpoint. “Using Pokki, we converted our games into downloadable versions that preserve the quality and immediacy of browser-based gameplay within native apps, a single click away, and always available to PC gamers.”
Download channels in the Pokki Game Network offer popular web and social game titles for download, like Bigpoint’s Pirate Storm, Kabam’s The Godfather: Five Families™, or Kixeye’s War Commander, while generating additional revenue per install. “Softonic is the world’s leading online software guide and we’re excited to offer top web and social games, made available for download through our partnership with Pokki,” said Santiago Arano, CEO North America at Softonic. “The Pokki Game Network is a natural fit for Softonic, as PC games are one of our most popular categories as we’ve grown our site past 5 million daily downloads of software across multiple platforms.”
In addition to offering a new user acquisition channel for game developers, Pokki desktop versions of games have demonstrated increased engagement, retention, and average revenue per user (ARPU) compared to its web, Facebook, and Chrome Web App games due to the engaging nature of one-click desktop access and real-time desktop notifications.
