The Pennsylvania Association for the Blind (PAB) in partnership with the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) is providing training to all 28 PAB Member Agencies, Staff, Board Members and Volunteers through AFB’s Senior Site eLearning Center On Aging And Visual Impairment. Each individual has access to 21 mini-courses, periodic webinars, access to “Ask the Expert” blogs by leading experts, and continuing education credits for staff.

The President and CEO of PAB, Elaine Welch, says, “These ELearners are gaining a great understanding of aging and vision loss, while becoming more prepared to meet the needs of our communities. We are proud of our dedicated CEOs and staff members committed to continuing their education and this would not be as easily accessible without the help of the American Foundation for the Blind.”

With the help of The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, who has committed to fund the expense of the eLearning courses for Susquehanna Association for the Blind; Vision Resources of Central PA; PAB Central Office, and ForSight, PAB has funded the expense of the courses for all agencies. The Foundation for Enhancing Communities, whose mission is to preserve and increase resources so that future generations will have the means to address and solve societal challenges, is helping in achieving a PAB goal of improving the quality of life for blind and visually impaired individuals across the Commonwealth.

AFB’s eLearning Center designed to help the leaders in the blind community obtain timely information on content such as aging, employment, technology and vocational rehabilitation is available to PAB for a period of two years and many CEOs and staff members are well on their way to completing all courses.
