"It’s very rewarding to have a huge positive impact on the lives of
others by treating oral pain and discomfort." -Tara Griffin D.D.S.

While the cost of healthcare is soaring, millions of Americans are snoring their way into a serious disease called obstructive sleep apnea. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that, “Insufficient sleep is now a public health epidemic with 50-70 million US adults suffering with a sleep or wakefulness disorder.” Medical and dental providers are diligently striving to “Wake America Up” to obstructive sleep apnea and the treatment that is available.

Standing in the forefront of bringing awareness to the public is David Gergen, President and CEO of Pro Players Health Alliance and Gergen's Orthodontic Lab, focusing on current and retired athletes with Dr. Rodney Willey, President and CEO of the Koala Centers for Sleep Disorders, where patients are being successfully treated. Keep your eye on the Koala Centers as they are currently being reproduced across the country.

We had an opportunity to interview Koala Center owner, Dr. Tara Griffin, of Bloomington, Illinois. She has made the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea the priority of her dental career.

Q: How long have you been doing dental sleep apnea?
A: Four years.

Q: How did you get started?
A: I attended a sleep meeting in Boston where I met David Gergen. He
encouraged me that night to get involved in dental sleep treatment.

Q: How has this fulfilled your career?
A: It’s very rewarding to have a huge positive impact on the lives of
others by treating oral pain and discomfort. Treating dental sleep
apnea improves individuals' quality of life.

Q: How is it that you have been able to be so successful so fast?
A: David Gergen encouraged me to buy a Koala center and by doing so I
became the first Dentist. Koala centers make it easy to navigate
medical billing and procedures.

Q: What is the greatest thing that you appreciate about the KOALA
A: I receive support from Rod Willey on any problems that I couldn't
prepare for initially. He shows me all issues and follows through quickly.
