Brand new Brown belt female, Sijara Eubanks, took home her 4th Pan American Jiu Jitsu Championship title, winning the open weight division over Janni Larrson [CheckMat BJJ] in a closely contested finals match.

Sijara had lost to Janni Larrson early that day in the finals of the Brown belt Female Medium-Heavy division with the score 0-2. The silver medal, though a strong accomplishment for the three-week old Brown belt, left Sijara determined to win the open weight class.

"I was disappointed in my finals match [Brown belt female medium-heavy] so I was really hungry for the Open weight class Gold medal. I was hoping I would get a rematch with Janni and when I saw her on the opposite side of the bracket, I was confident I'd get the rematch and the win. I fixed the mistakes I made [in our first match] and was able to beat her the second time."

Promoted to Brown belt in February 2013, Sijara has had an amazing start to her brown belt career, winning both IBJJF tournaments she's competed in thus far [two Golds at Boston Open, 1 Gold & 1 Silver at Pan Ams]. Up next, she'll be competing in the WPJJC in Abu Dhabi and the IBJJF Worlds in May 2013. She's sure to make a mark this year amongst Jiu-Jitsu's stellar females.
