The International Society for Telemedicine & eHealth (ISfTeH), a not-for-profit society that facilitates the international dissemination of knowledge and experience in Telemedicine and eHealth, announced today the election of Rifat Latifi, MD, as a new board member.
Dr. Rifat Latifi is a Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona, Tucson, Arizona, and Director of Trauma Services at Hamad General Hospital in Doha. Dr. Latifi is also the President and Founder of International Virtual e-Hospital Foundation a not for profit US-based organization.
“I am excited to participate in such an important society that recognizes the value of sharing telemedicine experiences and resources across the globe,” commented Dr. Rifat Latifi. “In order to keep the telemedicine industry moving forward we need to continue to educate the medical industry on the implementations worldwide,” added Latifi.
Dr. Latifi joins an international Board of nine other members: Dr. Andy Fischer (Switzerland), Steve Normandin (USA), Fank Lievens (Belgium), Dr. Moretlo Molefi (South Africa), Professor Yogesan Kanagasingam (Australia), Dr. Adolfo Sparenberg (Brazil), Dr. André Petitet (France), Professor Rupert Gerzer (Germany), and Dr. Oleg Orlov (Russia).
Dr. Latifi has been working in transforming healthcare and medical education worldwide through telemedicine and advanced medical technologies, by creating and establishing self-sustainable telemedicine and e-health programs around the world and to rebuild medical systems in the developing world, one country at a time. He is experienced in training and educating healthcare providers of developing countries in the use, adoption, practice, and implementation of telemedicine, e-health and electronic libraries in order to narrow the gap created by the digital divide and healthcare imbalance.
