Michelle LaBrosse, CEO and Founder of Cheetah Learning (http://www.CheetahLearning.com), appeared as a featured guest this week on the nationally syndicated “Richard Stevens Show” to tackle the taxing issue of taxes. LaBrosse also penned a blog post on the subject, titled: “Project Management Can Help You Pay Only Your Share of Taxes.”

“It takes close to 7 percent of our gross receipts to pay for all the tax compliance services we require. This is NOT including the taxes we pay.”

As America celebrated the 100th birthday of the Federal Income Tax, Michelle LaBrosse, CEO and Founder of Cheetah Learning, went to the airwaves and the blog-o-sphere with a provocatively timely message: “Project Management Can Help You Pay Only Your Share of Taxes.”

LaBrosse, recognized by the Project Management Institute as one the 25 Most Influential Women in Project Management in the World, was a featured guest on “The Richard Stevens Show,” which is nationally syndicated to 100 radio stations through Cumulus Media. His show can be accessed at http://www.HitsAndFavorites.com.

The guest spot featuring LaBrosse took place Monday, April 15. Among the questions addressed during the radio show:

  • How do you approach a massive pile of paper without getting overwhelmed?
  • What is the first step in an action plan to get organized for next year?
  • Why should you tend to your taxes year-round? What should you be doing on a regular basis?
  • How do you prioritize what to do when you begin a project?
  • Is the cost of hiring professionals worth your time and peace of mind?

In addition to the nationally syndicated radio show, LaBrosse, a popular author and keynote speaker, was interviewed on the same topic at KPDQ in Portland, OR. She also wrote a related blog post titled: “Project Management Can Help You Pay Only Your Share of Taxes.” The post is at http://www.MichelleLaBrosseBlogs.com/2013/04/project-management-and-taxes.

LaBrosse begins her blog by pointing out that “the number of pages in the US Federal Tax Code is 73,954 pages.” Then, as a businessperson and entrepreneur, she puts that into a larger perspective.

“I run a small business and the time and effort (cost) we put into tax strategies and tax compliance is astounding,” she explains. “It takes close to 7 percent of our gross receipts to pay for all the tax compliance services we require. This is NOT including the taxes we pay.”

To keep up with the ongoing effort, the Chief Cheetah and her crew use the latest in digital technology to maintain meticulous records.

“While there is no getting around paying tax after tax after tax—there is no need to pay more taxes than you are required to pay,” she said. “And the way to do that is to be able to defend every single deduction you take on your taxes so even if audited, you are in compliance with the tax code.”

Of course, it goes without saying that, a day-in, day-out, year-round, regimented approach is the only practical solution—as opposed to a last-minute, panic-prone, haphazard frenzy. That means start planning now for next year’s tax season.

The seeds of LaBrosse’s systematic approach to life and business can be found in the methodology she learned, first-hand, as an Air Force officer in the mid-1980s. She left the service and eventually launched Cheetah Learning, a project management training company.

With a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, the single mother of two grew Cheetah Learning into a multi-million dollar powerhouse in the Project Management education field, a competitive arena with 1,600 providers who are registered with the Project Management Institute (PMI).

“The goal of Cheetah Learning is to help millions pursue visions much larger than they have ever dreamed possible for themselves, and lead inspiring and fulfilling lives,” LaBrosse explains. For facilitating such life-changing efforts, Cheetah was given the PMI’s Professional Development Provider of the Year Award in 2008.

In addition to founding Cheetah Learning, LaBrosse is the author of “Cheetah Negotiations,” “Cheetah Project Management” and “Cheetah Know How,” all of which are available at http://www.CheetahStore.com.
