Angel Flight West is offering members of the media an opportunity to fly to Catalina Island to see the cooperative effort between the volunteer pilot organization and the Casa Colina Rehabilitation Center's Therapeutic Recreation and Outdoors Adventures program firsthand on Sunday April 21. Fly-along opportunity is available on a limited basis.

Angel Flight West, the largest volunteer pilot nonprofit organization in the world, is arranging free air transportation for participants in Casa Colina Rehabilitation Center’s Therapeutic Recreation and Outdoor Adventures. Casa Colina’s program focuses on empowering people with disabilities, many of whom have sustained traumatic brain injuries. The ten participants will depart from Pomona, Calif., and will spend the weekend with the Catalina Island Conservancy, collecting seeds in Skull Canyon.

Credentialed media may fly along with AFW volunteer pilots to transport participants back to Brackett Airport. Media must be credentialed and will be requested to show identification for security clearance. This opportunity is available on a limited basis.

Casa Colina and Angel Flight West have cooperated together on these flights for nearly fifteen years. Additionally, AFW has arranged flights to Kern River for white water rafting and to Lake Powell for houseboat trips for people with disabilities. By creating opportunities through challenging and exciting activities and by focusing on abilities, not disabilities, the program enables its members to experience success both physically and emotionally.
