“Obamacare focuses on preventative care and uninsured US citizens. Its impact upon seniors will be mostly realized through savings of prescription drug costs.”
(PRWEB) April 20, 2013
The Affordable Healthcare Act, known more commonly as Obamacare, was passed by Congress, signed into law by President Obama, and upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States. It is, as John Boehner said, “… the Law of the Land,” and with Obama winning reelection late 2013, it will go into effect over the course of the next few years. In the meantime, before Obamacare because the ruling law of medical insurance and providers, there are a lot of seniors wondering about how the Affordable Care Act will impact their lives, especially if they have a Medigap plan.
Medigap Providers, a leading online resource to connect seniors to affordable Medigap plans has issued the following release concerning Medigap programs in the upcoming years, “Obamacare focuses on preventative care and uninsured US citizens. Its impact upon seniors will be mostly realized through savings of prescription drug costs.”
Currently Obamacare does nothing to change the 80/20 rule of Medicare. Medicare covers 80% of medical expenses while the beneficiary pays 20%. Medigap programs exist to help seniors pay for the costs that are left unpaid, known as the “gaps”. These gaps are where Medigap receives its name. Obamacare does not affect Medicare Part B.
As far as Medicare Part D is concerned, though, Obamacare does take a stance in reducing costs. Currently there is a gap between insurance coverage and insurance coverage that Medicare beneficiaries currently pay. Obamacare addresses these gaps head on and over the course of the next few years seeks to close this gap. Obamacare closes this gap through regulating what pharmaceutical companies can charge seniors for medications.
Looking toward the near future, Medigap Providers wants seniors to know that with the advent of Obamacare there will still be a need for Medigap insurance. Without supplemental policies medical prices and charges can still cause serious financial harm and even affect potential medical coverage. Now is the time to take advantage of available Medigap programs before prices potentially rise due to the effects of Obamacare on Medicare Part D. Medigap Providers is a service that helps seniors locate and select the best Medigap coverage plan available to them.
