This year’s Sydney Film Festival marks the 60th anniversary of the event. The longest-running film festival takes place in the city over 12 days in June and has grown into a world renowned event since it was first held in 1954.
The Sydney Film Festival has grown from its four room venue at the University of Sydney with only 1,200 tickets available to a 12 day event that draws international attention, with films being showcased in several venues across the city. Running from 5-16 June this year, the Festival will feature films, documentaries, short films and animation from around the world. Judged on their emotional power, resonance and courageous direction, the shortlisted films will compete to win the prestigious Sydney Film Prize of $60,000 which will be revealed at the Closing Night Gala event.
