This is an ideal example of a public-private partnership that will help showcase our efforts to bring new awareness and economic opportunities to Lake County.

Lake County and The Villages residents will soon have an improved, dynamic source of news and information specifically for and about the region.

Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) (, the Lake County Department of Economic Development and Tourism and Hometown Health TV, LLC have partnered to revamp the college’s cable access channel, production studio and facilities and increase programming to a community underserved by traditional television media.

Hometown Health TV ( is an award-winning Leesburg-based multimedia production company that has been recognized internationally for its high quality product as well as its commitment to the community.

In addition to top-quality production, the programming will be promoted and air extensively over the newly energized and marketed LSSC-TV. Produced content will also be available on LSSC’s live web stream, various websites, YouTube, mobile media and other ancillary uses. Anticipated programming includes:

  •     LSSC events, programming and content
  •     Lake County tourism programs and events
  •     Cost-efficient production produced for local businesses and organizations that target the Lake County consumer market
  •     Public affairs programming

“The potential to produce and distribute best-in-class, award-winning video content specific to this region is a win-win for the involved parties but mostly for the community,” said Dr. Charles R. Mojock, Ed.D, LSSC president.

“Video is the ‘Golden Ring’ of communication in today’s world of multi-screen and multimedia technology. If you have a message, a cause, an event, a business, without quality video content and numerous platforms to share that video content, you’re already behind the times,” says Marc Robertz-Schwartz, President of Hometown Health TV, LLC and Apple Seed Marketing, and a 20-plus year media and marketing veteran.

“By revitalizing an existing resource, this partnership will effectively fill the ‘coverage void’ that exists in our area by being on the fringe of the Orlando metro market,” said Robert Chandler, Lake County Economic Development and Tourism Director. “This is an ideal example of a public-private partnership that will help showcase our efforts to bring new awareness and economic opportunities to Lake County.”

“This is a great community with incredibly knowledgeable people who have great stories and expertise to share, says Robertz. “We are committed to making LSSC-TV a viewer destination, a catalyst for community engagement, and an unparalleled resource to those in need of credible, experienced and award winning video production.

The partnership will also create additional jobs in the area – including a media account representative, writer/producer, shooter/editor and an office coordinator - as well as opportunities for LSSC and area high school students to get involved and contribute content.
