Westinghouse Appoints Jeffrey Benjamin as Senior Vice President Nuclear Power Plants

Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that it has appointed Jeffrey Benjamin as senior vice president, Nuclear Power Plants, effective May 31.

Westinghouse Electric Company today announced that it has appointed Jeffrey Benjamin as senior vice president, Nuclear Power Plants, effective May 31. In this position, Mr. Benjamin will lead Westinghouse efforts to meet existing new plant customer needs and further develop new plant opportunities.

“While we are hard at work to complete our first new AP1000® plants in the United States and China, we continue to make great progress in advancing our nuclear technology around the globe,” said Danny Roderick, Westinghouse president and CEO. “In all of our new plant projects, our customers expect outstanding quality and flawless project implementation; to do this requires acting as a unified, disciplined global team responding rapidly and providing seamless support.”

Nuclear Power Plants will combine the existing Westinghouse Nuclear Power Plants Project Delivery and Nuclear Power Plant Business & Project Development product lines into one organization to allow for a more streamlined organization to compete in today’s fast-paced marketplace, said Roderick. “I am confident that Jeff’s broad commercial experiences across both nuclear utilities and engineering/design firms will complement our already strong technical leadership capabilities in the new plant arena.”

Reporting to Mr. Benjamin will be Messrs. Deva Chari and Sandy Rupprecht. Mr. Rupprecht will continue to lead new plant project development efforts, while Mr. Chari will focus on the expanding China market and the startup of plants under construction in China.

Mr. Benjamin has more than 25 years of global nuclear experience in plant engineering and operations, nuclear power plant project development and nuclear services business development. He comes to Westinghouse from his most recent role with Rolls-Royce in London, where he led the nuclear services business with locations in North America, England and France. Prior to that, Mr. Benjamin held several leadership positions with the international commercial nuclear business of CH2M HILL, a global engineering and technical services company. Additionally, Mr. Benjamin formerly served in senior leadership positions with several North American nuclear utilities, including Exelon, and his career experience covers engineering and operations as well as large project management.

Mr. Benjamin will be relocating from the UK to the United States and work from Westinghouse Electric Company headquarters in Cranberry Township, Pa.
