Lake County ETSB Selects FATPOT to Implement Regional Interoperability Solution

Regional 9-1-1 Authority begins implementation to connect 20 public safety dispatch centers for information sharing and regional interoperability.

“FATPOT was the vendor who exhibited true partnership with their customers and showed us exactly what we wanted.” said Jeannine Thompson, 911 Coordinator of Lake County’s ETSB

FATPOT Technologies, a premier provider of public safety software, announces that implementation is underway on the Lake County Emergency Telephone Services Board’s (ETSB) data sharing and interoperability project. When completed, more than 20 agencies throughout the County can benefit from improved situational awareness, enhanced communications and increased intelligence.

Lake County communications officials were planning for voice and data interoperability well before the September 11th terrorist attacks. In 1999, the County solved voice interoperability with a countywide radio system. Data interoperability however, brought a different set of challenges to overcome as the ETSB considered the nine incompatible Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems in use throughout the County.

The ETSB researched several possible solutions including using data exchange models from the CAD vendors, migrating all agencies to a single CAD system, or implementing an information sharing platform to create a “system of systems”. After careful consideration, the ETSB determined an information sharing platform provided the most value and benefits from economic, technical and operational perspectives.

A comprehensive RFP process clearly placed FATPOT at the top of the ETSB’s list. “FATPOT was the vendor who exhibited true partnership with their customers and showed us exactly what we wanted.” said Jeannine Thompson, 911 Coordinator of Lake County’s ETSB. “FATPOT’s CADfusion will provide status, location and call type information to all participating agencies. This new capability will enable us to have even faster response times and better knowledge across our boundaries about missing person alerts, reckless drivers, severe weather sightings, box alarms, mutual aid responses and thefts.”

Scott Lefevre, FATPOT Director of Sales commented, “It’s a privilege to help Lake County’s First Responders respond faster and safer. Best of all, our solution is “behind the scenes”, meaning it uses each agencies’ existing equipment so there’s no disruption to their operations. We are excited about the outcome of this project and the public safety benefits it will have throughout Lake County.”

Lake County IL is a Chicagoland collar county located in the northeast corner of Illinois and has a population of about 705,000 across 448 square miles.

FATPOT Technologies ( is a recognized leader in software, data interoperability and data sharing among disparate public safety and mission critical users. A subsidiary of Communications International, Inc., FATPOT software is powered by its patented Peer IntelligenceTM rapid integration architecture, a platform designed to quickly integrate disparate CAD, RMS, 911, GPS and other critical systems into one application framework. The result is a highly advanced cross-jurisdictional situational awareness system for key decision makers and first responders, with the ability to instantly communicate and coordinate emergency responses.
