We are the first retained search firm to embrace the transgender community, and we were the first retained search firm to embrace the lesbian and gay community 20 years ago as a viable source of talent for our clients.

McCormack & Associates, a nationally recognized diversity recruitment leader in the fields of public health, social services, and community based organizations, is celebrating its 20th anniversary in business, a new name, and the addition of a partner, Justin Warren. The firm will now be known as McCormack & Warren.
“In the future, McCormack & Warren will build upon our 20-year reputation for excellent service and continue to grow our recruiting practice,” says Founder and Managing Partner Joseph McCormack. “We are the first retained search firm to embrace the transgender community, and we were the first retained search firm to embrace the lesbian and gay community 20 years ago as a viable source of talent for our clients. Being a pioneer is a core value for us, not only as a business practice, but as a commitment to social justice.”
Joseph McCormack has more than 30 years of search experience, and has served clients in nearly every sector of American business, filling senior management and board positions in higher education, health care, public policy, financial services, and not-for-profit organizations. He is currently the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors for The LGBT Community Center of the Desert in Palm Springs and a founding board member of the Association of Transgender Professionals.
Justin Warren has conducted searches for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, Los Angeles Youth Network, GLAAD, Amnesty International, USA, The Trevor Project, Children’s Burn Foundation, L.A. County, MassEquality, and others. Prior to joining McCormack & Associates in 2006, Justin worked at Toyota Motor Sales’ corporate headquarters in administrative and logistical roles, beginning with the launch of Scion brand vehicles in 2003.
“It’s truly an honor to continue the legacy of serving our nonprofit clients. Taking on their missions every day is what drives us to identify and develop the most talented candidates,” says Warren.
McCormack & Warren specializes in generating the most diverse pool of potential candidates possible and has built a nationwide network of sources in people of color organizations, disability communities, colleges and universities with significant minority enrollments, and organizations with records of diversity recruitment and retention. The company has recruited hundreds of Executive Directors, Board Members, and other Senior Executives for a full spectrum of healthcare and advocacy organizations, as well as philanthropic social service, social justice, and educational clients across the country.
“It’s our task as search consultants to provide the client with the strengths and shortcomings of each candidate in order to make the optimum choice for a position,” continues McCormack. “No candidate wants to be hired because of a quota. Every candidate wants to be evaluated based upon specific qualifications for the job. One of the most rewarding moments for any search consultant is sitting across the table from an exceptional candidate who, by virtue of his or her diversity, has the potential to change the culture of the hiring organization and to challenge it to become more inclusive. Think of the emerging transgender community and what a difference they will make in the workplace 10 years from now as they become more visible and open.”
