Derek Dietrich of the Miami Marlins

The Miami Marlins may just make history this season. Since being called up from Double-A Jacksonville to the major league, Derek Dietrich increased his home run total to six. Dietrich stands at 6 foot and weighs in at 200 pounds, not making him your typical power hitter, yet he still is hitting the ball out of the park. For the first time since Dan Uggla, the Marlins have a second baseball capable of reaching 20 home runs. Uggla, who played with the Marlins from 2006-2010, is the team’s all-time home run leader with more than 30 in four seasons. He has 27 as a rookie on the team in 2006. Dietrich is certainly on his way to fame, with 10 home runs in his last 57 games, including his games at Jacksonville. He has already made Marlin history, as he has the most home runs by a Marlin’s left handed hitting second basemen. Diertrich stated that he isn’t one bit surprised about the number of home runs he has so far this season. He knows power has always been his number one tool as a middle infielder, and he plans to keep on using it.
