LaunchPoint, a provider of cloud-based solutions, software, and services for healthcare organizations, today announced it has filled three key operations executive roles to support its growing client base that includes 19 new clients in 2015. The executive additions will officially report under LaunchPoint’s Discovery Health Partners division. They include Kathy Cortez, Vice President, Operations; Carol Pitts, Vice President, Client Advocacy for Strategic Accounts; and Linda Atencio, Vice President, Client Advocacy. Cortez, Pitts and Atencio join the Discovery Health Partners operations leadership team, which also includes Liz Longo, Vice President, Legal Services and Chief Legal Counsel, and Suzi Meschbach, Vice President, IT Services.
Cortez is responsible for day-to-day business operations surrounding client work and solutions delivery. This includes running the Subrogation, COB, MSP Validation, and other solution teams. The client advocacy roles filled by Pitts and Atencio ensure that every client gets the attention and tailored service level it needs. They identify needs and opportunities at existing customers, support the smooth implementation of solutions for new customers, and nurture relationships at strategic, cornerstone accounts for the organization.

Kathy Cortez, newly appointed Vice President, Operations, has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare and health insurance, with an additional seven years in property, casualty, and workers compensation, where she gained extensive working knowledge of process and performance improvement. Prior to Discovery Health Partners, Cortez held the role of Vice President, Operations, at Symphonix Health Insurance, a Medicare Part D start-up, where she provided strategic leadership from concept to implementation with 250 percent year-over-year growth. Before joining Symphonix, Cortez held senior roles at well-known plans and healthcare organizations such as Fidelis SeniorCare, CNA, LifeWatch, Caremark and Baxter Healthcare, where she created and successfully executed strategic, financial, and operating plans. Cortez holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Carol Pitts brings 25 years of healthcare and technology experience to the role of Vice President, Client Advocacy for Strategic Accounts. In this role, Pitts will be responsible for leading the Strategic Client Advocacy team and supporting customers to achieve their savings goals through the solutions and services Discovery Health Partners offers. Pitts joined LaunchPoint’s Discovery Health Partners team from Fallon Community Health where she was the Vice President, Claims Administration, concentrating her efforts on delivering excellent performance, implementing streamlined processes, improving effectiveness, and delivering bottom-line savings through auditing and recovery services. Prior to Fallon, Pitts served in a number of director and manager roles at various health organizations in the Northeast. With degrees from Northeastern University and Eastern Nazarene College, Pitts also holds a Medical Assistant Certificate from L.A. Wilson Technology Center in New York.
Linda Atencio, Vice President, Client Advocacy, is responsible for maintaining and developing client relationships by handling client needs, discovering new opportunities, and coordinating with internal partners for successful outcomes. Atencio brings more than 23 years of health plan and health insurance experience working for CIGNA, Lovelace, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield organizations. As an Account Executive at Cigna Health Care, Atencio managed large employer groups with both ASO and fully insured funding. As the Regional Medicare Sales Manager at Lovelace Health Plan, she was successful in building strong sales and service teams, meeting and exceeding plan goals. Atencio brings to the team vast product knowledge, benefit administration, and process improvement abilities.
