3D Printing Service Provider Forecast 3D Celebrates 20 Years of Quality Parts and Craftsmanship
Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) December 22, 2014 -- Today marks the 20th anniversary of 3D printing and short-run manufacturing service provider Forecast 3D. Brothers Corey and Donovan Weber founded the company in 1994, starting with a single Stereolithography 3D printer (a 3D Systems SLA machine) in their garage. Inspired by the promise of the technology, the brothers began building prototypes and short run parts for a handful of customers. One of Forecast’s first projects involved a rubberized boot for the Apple Newton, the first handheld device preceding the iPad.
“20 years ago, we were on the pulpit, educating our peers and expressing the praises of additive manufacturing every day. Now, we are witnessing 3D printing cement itself as a part of today’s mainstream pop culture – what a fun progression to be a part of,” stated Donovan Weber, COO and co-founder. “Our mission today is to maximize the potential of what we can do for our customers’ projects and leverage what these technologies allow. In October of this year, Forecast 3D expanded their manufacturing facility to 42,500 square feet. The team anticipates new industrial 3D printers to add to their arsenal of 3D printing technologies. Currently, Forecast 3D offers Stereolithography (SLA), Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), PolyJET high precision color 3D printing, Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), CNC Machining, and RTV tooling. With the added capacity and technologies, the team looks forward to better serving mechanical engineers, research and development teams, designers, inventors, and anyone needing a prototype or production part built with the latest technologies and materials.
