Author Granvil Hays' New Book "Circuitous Routes to America" Captures the Impact World War II Had in Bringing Four Individuals to the USA
Recent release "Circuitous Routes to America" from Page Publishing author Granvil Hays is an historical novel that weaves four seemingly unrelated stories into a single narrative.
BOZEMAN, Mont., Dec. 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Granvil Hays is a writer whose career brought him from dental school to a twenty-one year stint in the US Army, where he retired as a colonel. After the military, Hays joined the faculty of the University of Texas-Houston, Health Science Center. He has completed his new book "Circuitous Routes to America": an exciting adventure that goes beyond the surface story of the war itself and brings the people who lived through it to the fore.
"This book is based on conversations with individuals, which, at the time they took place, I had no thought of putting to paper," Granvil Hays said of his inspiration for the novel. "These stories were relayed to me in bits and pieces over the years."
Published by New York City-based Page Publishing, Granvil Hays' gripping story highlights the struggles of three men and one brave woman. The stories cover their experiences prior to, during, and after World War II.
Two of the men began their lives in Prussia, both serving in the German Army. One ended the war in a Russian POW camp, the other was taken prisoner in North Africa and was in a POW camp in Oklahoma at the end of the war. The third man was a Yugoslavian national flying supply missions to the Yugoslavian resistance out of Cairo. The woman, an ethnic German, was born in Poland. She made what the Germans call the Trek from Prussia to the West with an infant daughter.
Readers who wish to follow the journeys that lead all four characters to new lives in the United States can purchase"Circuitous Routes to America" at bookstores everywhere, or online at the Apple iTunes store, Amazon, Google Play or Barnes and Noble.
