Call for Hackers: GS1 US Hackathon to Address Supply Chain Flexibility and Resiliency
Participants to Create Solutions That Will Improve Supply Chain Adaptability and Compete for Cash Prizes
EWING, N.J., Aug. 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- GS1 US will host Flexible and Resilient: Future-Proofing the Supply Chain, a virtual hackathon from August 31 to September 20, 2020. The hackathon provides an opportunity for developers to leverage technologies like blockchain, machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) to build an innovative solution that can solve highly relevant supply chain challenges recently exposed during the COVID-19 pandemic. A panel of judges will award a prize pool of $30,000 across multiple categories, and the winners will be announced October 2, 2020.
WHO: The hackathon is open to developers, designers, entrepreneurs or supply chain managers with interest in supply chain application development, data science, AI, machine learning, blockchain and various coding languages such as JSON, XML and JavaScript.
WHAT: With COVID-19 as the backdrop, the GS1 US Hackathon will challenge developers to create solutions for manufacturers, retailers, hospitals, distributors, governments and other supply chain participants leveraging GS1 Standards and emerging technologies to help "future-proof" the supply chain. Each entrant should address a challenge in one or more of four areas: food, consumer packaged goods (CPG), healthcare or create their own unique solution that addresses the theme of the event. Solutions could enable more compatibility between the retail grocery and foodservice supply chains, predict spikes in CPG product demand, locate and authenticate personal protective equipment (PPE) in the healthcare industry, or other examples of challenges recently experienced during the pandemic.
WHEN: The second annual hackathon will take place August 31, 2020 through September 20, 2020. Winners will be announced on October 2, 2020.
