Climate Change Is Not An Argument, It's Science Versus Denial Of Evaporation

GRANTS PASS, Ore., July 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- On June 23rd, 1988 in Washington, D.C., NASA climate scientist James Hansen testified before Congress about human-caused global warming. Declaring that "climate change has begun," he warned the largely indifferent legislators that terrible conditions and consequences would follow inaction. At the time, there was less hostility toward Hansen and the research of other climate scientists than there is today. Yet, it is sad to recognize that Hansen's predictions were absolutely accurate.

She also notes that America still turns a deaf ear to the results of science. The U.S. President insists that climate change is "a hoax", and his EPA director is an avowed climate change denier.
The reality, Kleyne points out, is that tens-of-thousands of studies have shown the disastrous effects of man-made climate change. It's not a question of who's right and who's wrong, Kleyne points out. It's about accurate science opposed by deniers of the truth. "It's amazing how remarkably prescient when it comes to the predictions he (Hansen) made decades ago and how it's played out," says Penn State's Michael Mann. Mann cites an "eerie match" between Hansen's forecasts and actual observed global warming ever since.
Dr. L. DeWayne Cecil, Ph.D., Principle Scientist at Sustainable Earth Observation Systems, LLC, and a former climate scientist as NASA, says that "I never met sustained interest in a comprehensive water plan. We also have no international climate change plan, no international energy plan." Hansen, today a professor at Columbia University, concurs. "All we've done is agree there's a problem. We agreed that in 1992 at the Earth summit in Rio and we agreed again in Paris at the 2015 climate accord. We haven't acknowledged what is required to solve it. Promises like Paris don't mean much, it's wishful thinking. It's a hoax that governments have played on us since the 1990s."
According to journalist Mihai Andrei, Hansen is especially bitter about former president Barack Obama's failure with regard to climate change. Hansen says that Obama passed up an opportunity to thwart Trump's destruction of US climate by refusing to settle a lawsuit that Hansen, his granddaughter and 20 other young people are waging against the government. "If we had settled the lawsuit quickly," Hansen said, "the US legally wouldn't be able to do the absurd things Trump is doing now by opening up all sorts of fossil fuel sources."
Though it is very late in the game, Hansen still believes that humanity can recover and turn the tide. The solution is simple: a tax on carbon. "Emissions aren't going to go down," Hansen says, "if the cost of fossil fuels isn't honest. Economists are very clear on this. We need a steadily increasing fee that is then distributed to the public."
Standing in the way of the carbon tax and global water plans is the surging anti-science movement. Hansen, though, believes we'll ultimately deal with climate change and global warming, "but not before there is an amount of suffering that is unconscionable and should've been avoided."
