Deep Isolation's Sam Brinton, Director of Legislative Affairs, will speak in the panel session, "Regional and International Repositories for Radioactive Waste: Cooperation and Feasibility," at the International Youth Nuclear Congress (IYNC) in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at 1:00 pm local time. Sam will be joined by Paul Bertsch from CSIRO, Geordan Graetz from ANSTO, and Elsa Lemaître-xavier from ANDRA, to discuss regional and international disposal facilities and feasibility in terms of national view, international law, safeguards, and public concern. Brinton is a nuclear engineer with experience in waste management policy formation, having advised the U.S government and written successful legislation.
The International Youth Nuclear conference is a global event attended by several hundred leading professionals in the nuclear industry. Under the theme "Diversity in Nuclear," the International Youth Nuclear will promote and enable the diversity of people engaged in the peaceful uses and applications of nuclear science and technology.
Jim Hamilton, Director of Partnerships at Deep Isolation and industry professional with decades of experience in stakeholder engagement and social risk management, will discuss the company's site selection and engagement program launched in December 2019. Hamilton will present the company's approach in the panel session, "Stakeholder Involvement in Consolidated ISF Storage, Disposal, and Transportation Initiatives" on Thursday, March 12, at 1:00 pm local time, and will discuss the elements needed to successfully engage stakeholders and community members for nuclear waste storage and disposal. Hamilton has over 25 years of experience in the public, private, and NGO sectors and has advised the U.S. Department of Energy on its spent fuel management program.
