WOODSIDE, Calif. (PRWEB) December 05, 2018 -- Holidays are in full swing at Filoli with exciting events that offer fun for the whole family. The Historic Estate has been proudly celebrating holiday traditions for over a century, and “Luminous: A Celebration of Color and Light” is the theme for this season of cheer, running from November 17 through December 23.

Filoli welcomes the community to experience a new vision for the Bay Area’s finest Country Estate. The House celebrates color and light with a fresh new take on Holiday decor in every room. The Gardens feature special Holiday touches during the day and are elegantly lit in the evening. Entertainment brings to life the sounds of the Holidays. By popular demand, two new Sundays have been added to the schedule, so Filoli will be open December 16 and 23 from 10am - 8pm.

“Filoli is once again dressed for the season, showcasing this year’s theme of color and light. Taking inspiration from colors found in our historic rooms, including beautiful pieces from Filoli’s collection of art and furnishings, every room features a different color. Among the many activities that are taking place this season, Filoli offers something for all, ensuring everyone in the family can enjoy the winter cheer their own way:

  • Garden Lights on Friday and Saturday Nights. All of the Gardens are open during the day with fresh wreaths and decorated trees. In the evening, Filoli offers a light experience like no other: breathtaking lights from the sunken garden to the pool and beyond. Filoli's doors are also open on Sunday December 16 and 23 from 10am - 8pm.
  • Special Performances and Carolers. Filoli offers a selection of holiday-themed entertainment in the House, with special performances in the Ballroom and the Merrie Olde Christmas Carolers roaming the House and Gardens on Friday and Saturday nights for a truly Winter Wonderland experience.
  • Santa Saturdays. We continue the popular Santa Saturdays featuring readings from Mrs. Claus, a family sing-a-long in the Ballroom, miniature ponies, holiday crafts and of course, a visit from Santa. Santa Saturdays are December 8, 15 and 22 and are free with admission.
  • Holiday Teas. Holiday Teas are one of the most authentic ways to experience Filoli. Bring your family and friends and enjoy scrumptious finger sandwiches, freshly made scones, and holiday treats served on a traditional tiered tray, alongside Filoli Fruit Butter and traditional clotted cream. Following the Tea, visit the Drawing Room in the historic House to see how traditional afternoon tea was enjoyed here during the family eras. Holiday Teas take place every Tuesday at 1pm and Sundays December 9, 16 and 23.
  • Holiday Celebrations. Host a holiday event or rent one of Filoli’s many event spaces with the special events packages available during this season. Plan a grandiose dinner in the early 20th century Ballroom, an interactive lunch in the Lecture Hall, an intimate affair in the Garden House or an extravagant bash with dinner and dancing in the tented Woodland Garden Court. Filoli accommodates parties of nearly any size, seven days a week.
  • Winter Solstice Celebration. Filoli will hold a mid-winter celebration on December 21. The adult-focused celebration will feature activities in the garden to honor the allure of the night, including a ceremonial lighting ritual and meditation. Guests will be invited to begin the evening with a glass of sparkling wine and light hors-d’oeuvres.

Enjoy the House as the Bourn and the Roth families did during the Holidays amidst the lavish decor, festive food and seasonal entertainment. All of the holiday displays at Filoli, including the garden lights, are included in the cost of a general admission ticket. Special event pricing applies and includes a more than 50% discount for members. A special one hour Holiday House Tour is available for $10. Group packages are also available.
